Homeboykris-2.PMHomeboykris, winner of the Grade 1 Champagne at 2 and currently 20th on the graded earnings list for the Kentucky Derby, worked six furlongs in 1:14 at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday.

Homeboykris, who has not started since finishing second behind stablemate Radiohead under allowance conditions at Gulfstream on Feb. 27, went in fractions of 12.20 seconds, 24.80, 37.00, 49.40, and 1:01.80 according to track clockers, who said he galloped out seven-eighths in 1:30 and change.

"The rider said he went good so we're good right now," said trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. "We're just winging it with him at the moment. The weather has been bad down here but we had a chance to breeze him today so we breezed him."

Dutrow said he'd like to work Homeboykris every six days leading up to the Derby, although that could conflict with his flight to Kentucky, which is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 20.

"I'd like to breeze him here on the 20th, we'll just have to see how early the flight is," said Dutrow. "If he gets one more work here, he'll likely work just once more in Kentucky."

Dutrow also said he has not altered Homeboykris's training style or schedule, despite the fact that he wil go into the 1 1/4-mile Derby off a nine-week layoff.

"I am training him the same basic way I train all my horses," said Dutrow.
