Qualify-Pimlico

Dark Hollow Farm, Arnold Davidov and David Schwaber's QUALIFY made it a perfect 2-for-2 at Pimlico this spring with a spirited run on Friday, May 23, turning back highly-rated challenger Mexikoma to score in allowance company.

The Graham Motion-trainee contested the early pace in the mile and a sixteenth main track test, took command heading into the stretch and kept finding more for rider Trevor McCarthy to win by a half length. A 4-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro and the A.P. Indy mare Open Flirt, QUALIFY has proven his versatility, having won a six-furlong maiden special weight in April while leading at every call. In four career starts, the bay colt bred by his owners in partnership with Alice Wolf has two wins, a third and a fourth and earnings of $61,730.

QUALIFY went through the auction ring for $125,000 as a juvenile, and is one of four offspring from five foals for his dam to sell for six figures. His second dam, Delaware Handicap-G2 winner With a Wink, produced three stakes winners, from a family which includes graded winners Raja's Shark and Lady Ten.
