PLUM Gets Up To Win The Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes at Laurel Park

Plum_FillyChampionship PLUM captured her third straight at Laurel Park and notched her first stakes win by capturing the Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes on Saturday, December 17th by a head under Travis Dunkelberger.

ravis Dunkelberger was at the controls as the daughter of Pure Prize prevailed in the 7-1/2 furlong test, as he helped her win by just a head over More Than a Cruise, with frontrunner Bluegrass Atatude two lengths farther back in third.

“I thought I got there,” said Dunkelberger. “They were getting away from me on the turn. I hit her right-handed, she kind of sulked a little. I hit her left-handed, she exploded. Amazing filly.”

Plum, now three for four lifetime for trainer Rodney Jenkins, has made all of her starts at Laurel Park.

“This filly as done everything we’ve asked her,” said Jenkins. “It gives you confidence when breeders like their own horses and care about them. We haven’t seen the best of this filly. Wait until she goes a mile and an eighth or a mile and a quarter. I ran her long three times with her coming into the race so I didn’t have the speed but I noticed Travis out broke them. She is a nice filly and is dead honest. She has such a natural stride. The rest of them looked like they were running their eye-balls out and she is galloping along. She has a good mind, good size and will grow into a better filly than she is now.”

EIGHTTOFASTTOCATCH Is At It Again- Captures Laurel's Jennings H.

Eighttofasttocatch_Jennings Eighttofasttocatch was just too fast to catch, leading from start to finish in the $75,000 Jennings Handicap, Dec. 3 at Laurel Park.

First away from the gate under Sheldon Russell, the 5-year old son of Not For Love out of Too Fast to Catch, opened up on his five rivals through the turn, where Russell gave him a breather until the pack began to close in. Then, with just a little urging, Eighttofasttocatch spurted away to a 4-1/4 length victory in 1:35.76 for the one mile distance.

Bred in Maryland by Dark Hollow Farm and Graham Motion's Herringswell Stable, Eighttofasttocatch has won five starts this year including the Harrison Johnson Memorial, the Japan Racing Association Stakes and the Maryland Million Classic.

POSEIDON'S WARRIOR Does It Again With 4th Stakes Win

POSEIDON'S WARRIOR, a three-year-old colt out of POISED TO POUNCE, posted his fourth career stakes win and seventh career black-type performance by rallying to capture Penn National's $75,000 Lebagoter Stakes on Nov 23.

Bred by Dark Hollow Farm in partnership with William Paca Beatson, POSEIDON'S WARRIOR previously won Penn National's East Hanover Stakes in July, Delaware Park's New Castle Stakes in October and Monmouth's NATC Futurity as a two-year-old.

PLUM Charges Late To Win Second Straight

Plum-11-25-11 Dark Hollow's homebred filly PLUM showed her class with a thrilling late surge to capture a Laurel Park Allowance on Friday, November 25th by 2-legnths under Travis Dunkelberger.

Conditioned by Rodney Jenkins, the chestnut filly by PURE PRIZE is out of BAMBA and is now two of three for her career after posting a Maiden Special Weight win three weeks earlier at Laurel Park as well.

PLUM is a half-sister to the STORMY ATLANTIC colt U BOAT ALLEY who has earned over $115,000 in a three year career.

HAYDENS HERO Breaks Maiden At Penn National

Haydens-hero Two-year-old colt HAYDENS HERO drew off to an impressive 3 1/2-length maiden score Wednesday evening November 16th at Penn National.

Out of the longtime Dark Hollow Farm mare NIN TWO and by the homebred PARTNER'S HERO, HAYDENS HERO was bred in Pennsylvania by long-time friend and former Executive Secretary of the Pennsylvania Horse Breeders' Association Mark McDermott.

HAYDENS HERO is a full sister to Grade-2 New York stakes winner NEW YORK HERO.
