A stakes winner of $171,075, WOODEN INJUN flashed his speed in 57 starts, winning 17 and placing in 20 others.

In his first seven career starts, from August of his 2-year-old season through the next March, he went to the post seven times, five in stakes, and never finished worse than third. He came out running at the start of his 3-year-old season, capturing the Star de Naskra S. in January, then three weeks later adding the Dancing Count S., both at Laurel Park.

The gelding was a great return on bargain investments—he was the second foal for his dam Barrera's Charm, who was purchased for $6,500 at a Timonium auction, and his sire Baederwood stood for $3,500. David Hayden was Baederwood's syndicate manager during the years the stallion stood in Maryland.
