KETTLE WON created quite a stir in his 2-year-old debut during the 1998 Saratoga meet as the Todd Pletcher-trainee blew away the opposition with a ten and a half-length romp in maiden special company. He has since competed successfully on dirt and turf, going short and long, and fiinished second in the Fort Lauderdale Handicap-G3 over Gulfstream Park's turf course in March of 2000. A half-brother to the durable allowance horse GLIDE HOME, KETTLE WON is out of championSAFELY KEPT's half-sister SAFE AT THE PLATE, a stakes-placed winner of $114,923.

Ch.c. 1996, Colonial Affair–Safe At the Plate, by Double Zeus. Bred and raised at Dark Hollow Farm. Sold by Dark Hollow Farm for $120,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale. Purchased by Anstu Stables for $370,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Select Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. Currently standing stud in New York.

The family of STARSONHERSHOULDER has spent many productive years at Dark Hollow Farm. Her first dam is the Dark Hollow foaled Lion Hearted mare DRESS GREY, who went on to become a stakes winner, counting Laurel Park's Smart Halo S. among her three wins from six starts.

STARSONHERSHOULDER's second dam, CHEMISE, produced nine winners from nine starters, including multiple graded stakes-placed Hello Lover, one of the winningest horses in North America in 2012 and an earner of $451,255, as well as 2002 Maryland-bred champion 2-year-old filly COQUETTISH and additional stakes winners MISS LOMBARDI (dam of 2014 Maryland-bred champion 2-year-old filly MISS BULLISTIC), and YES TO THE DRESS.

A daughter of Quiet American, STARSONHERSHOULDER turned in a thrilling performance in her second career start by capturing a Maiden Special Weight at Laurel Park in the fall of her 2-year-old season. She is one of three winners from as many foals of racing age for DRESS GREY.

STARSONHERSHOULDER is the dam of three winners from as many starters, including 2019 juvenile filly COMBAT QUEEN, who finished second in her debut and two weeks later captured a 6-furlong maiden at Laurel Park.
